INVESTIGATIONS

The Goochland Sheriff's Office currently has four deputies assigned to the investigations division. Their primary duties are to collect facts for a successful prosecution. This includes evidence collection, processing crime scenes, interviewing suspects and witnesses, and much more. Investigators work a wide range of criminal cases.

The single most important factor that determines a successful investigation is correctly obtaining and handling information supplied by a victim or witness after a crime. Investigating crimes is a skill that demands intelligence, logic, and discipline.

Our detectives utilize the latest in forensic technology available to utilize during their investigations, including state-of-the-art computer forensics. Our crime analysis unit works to build intelligence collection databases for reference and law-enforcement dissemination, to gather tactical intelligence in support of criminal investigations, and to use intelligence in support of strategic planning. Our investigations team maintains a strong network of local, state, and federal partners to accomplish their mission.

Goochland detectives are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to major crime scenes or where otherwise needed.

If you have any information about a crime, please contact the Goochland County Sheriff's Office at 804-556-5349 or call the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
