The Goochland County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing the best possible service to the residents of Goochland County. We are proud to introduce the future launch of the Goochland Handle with Care Program.

 

This program is designed to meet the needs of residents who may require special assistance during both emergency and non-emergency situations.  The Goochland Handle with Care Program will support persons or families of persons with special physical, behavioral and/or psychological needs.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO PERSONS LIVING WITH THE FOLLOWING:

 

Autism

Asperger’s Syndrome 

Behavioral Disorders

Cerebral Palsy

Cystic Fibrosis

Dementia

Developmental Delays

Hearing Impairment

Immobility

Mental Disorders

Neurological Disabilities

Seizure Disorders

Speech Impairment

Vision Impairment

 

Once the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office verifies a Goochland Handle with Care application, an alert will be entered into the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office CAD system.  

 

Once a resident’s Goochland Handle with Care application has been approved, the resident/family will receive decals to place on their vehicle(s) and the door(s) to their residence for additional alerts to first responders of their special needs.

 

When GCSO receives a call related to the applicant’s address or vehicle identification provided via the application, the responding deputy(deputies) will receive an alert detailing to HANDLE WITH CARE.
 

This program is primarily administered by the GCSO Community Division.
